Hailing from the Northern province of La Union, I'm used to traveling six hours or more to reach my hometown. But with the newly-opened Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, travel time has been reduced to 4-5 hours. On this vacation, I usually take the Tarlac City (via La Paz) entry to the SCTEX. It only takes me a mere 30 minutes to get to the North Luzon Expressway and from there, another hour (with a 15-minute stop-over at Shell NLEX) to reach Manila. It definitely saves time and fuel. If almost all roads in the Philippines are like this, traveling will be such a breeze!
