If there is only one ID a Filipino should have, it should be a passport. Not only is it one of the most recognized documents in the Philippines, it's also the most recognized ID in any part of the world. Don't get caught not having without a passport, much less an expired one. So, make sure you renew your passport on time. Please remember that traveling in most countries will require you to have a valid passport for 6 months. For example, your passport expires on December 25, 2011 and you're traveling to Japan today, they won't let you in the immigration because your passport is no longer valid for 6 months.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has recently introduced a new appointment system for e-passports. You don't have to wait in line anymore and you'll be able to request specific dates and time. It would be less hassle for your work or everyday activities. Only renewals are accommodated on this new system. Lost passports and new passports for children will be entertained as walk-ins. The Consular Section will accommodate 120 applicants daily so it is a must to get your appointment. Wag pasaway! :P No appointment, no entry! no processing!

Pero madami pa rin taung kababayan na hndi aware tungkol sa appointment system na ito lalo na yung mga sa bahay ngttrabaho at wlang access s internet.

Are you asking about how many days before you get your new passport? It usually takes 30 days. You can check the embassy website to know if your passport us ready for release already.
If you're asking for the special extension given to Filipinos who have emergency needs for such (like business trips, etc.), it will take more or less three days. They just attach a paper if extension or something. Kindly call the embassy for more specific answers. Thank you! :)

Tungkol naman po sa inyong katanungan, kung magpapa-renew po kayo ng passport, isang buwan po ang aabutin bago ninyo makuha ang bago. Kaya kung sa November po kayo uuwi, pwede pa po kayong mag-renew sa July o sa August. PERO, mas mabuti po sana na mas maaga kayong makapag-renew ng inyong passport para po maiwasan ang anumang aberya.
Kaya kung may schedule po ang Embassy on Wheels sa inyong lugar o sa Al-Khobar, magpunta na po kayo. @Anonymous^: Mas mabuti po sigurong makipag-ugnayan kayo sa Philippine embassy sa lalong madaling panahon. Kung masasabi n'yo po sa kanila agad na mali ang pangalan na nasa inyong passport, may panahon pa po para mapalitan ito dahil one month naman po ang waiting period para sa mga bagong passport. Makakarating po sa inyo ang corrected passport bago kayo umuwi ng September.
Kung too late na po para palitan ang inyong passport dahil gahol sa oras, baka pwede po kayong humingi ng extension para sa inyong passport. Ang embassy po ang makakatulong ng maigi sa inyong katanungan. Tumawag po sa: 01-488-0835 / 01-482-0507 / 01-482-3615 / 01-482-1577 / 01-482-1802

Hello po, pwede po kayong magtanong sa Philippine embassy. Sila po ang mas makakapagbigay sa inyo ng solusyon tulngkol dyan. Ang alam lang po namin ay kailangan po ang lumang passport para "ma-cancel" bago maibigay ang bago. Pero para sa mga "special case" po na katulad ng sa inyo, baka po pwede nila kayong gawan ng exemption. Sila po ang makakasagot ng maayos sa inyong sitwasyon. Hello po. Hindi po kayo makakatravel ng expired na ang passport. Kailangan n'yo pong ipa-renew ang iyong passport bago kayo makauwi.
Ano po ba ang pagkakaiba ng Renew sa Extension ng Passport may pagkakaiba po ba ito sa babayarin. Kasi ang Passport ko mapapaso na siya darating na October 16, 2012. Alin po sa dalawa ang mas maganda, Thank you and God Bless.
Ang extension po ay ipinagkakaloob lamang sa emergency cases. Isang halimbawa po ay kung kayo ay inatasan ng kumpanya n'yo na pumunta ng ibang bansa para sa isang business-related travel pero ang inyong passport ay expired na (hindi po pwedeng mag-travel internationally kung ang passport ay mageexpire na within 6 months). Maari po kayong humingi ng extension.
Mas maganda po sigurong ipa-renew n'yo na lamang po ang inyong passport kung hindi po kayo nagmamadali. Para po sa mas detalyadong kasagutan, maari po kayong tumawag sa Philippine embassy. :) Mas alam po nila ang kaibahan ng dalawa at kung magkano po ang babayaran. :) 01-4823559

@Anonymous 11:36: May mga consulates po ang Philippine Embassy sa ibang probinsya ng Saudi Arabia ngunit wala po sa kanila ang gumagawa ng passport processing. Hello po. That is the case with my mother's passport. We are going for vacation this November and her passport will expire on March 2013. usually, we have a 6-month validity rule in traveling internationally. Meaning, the passport must be valid still for six months when traveling. However, when we asked the embassy and the company, they said it's okay to use it in going home. But when she comes back here in Riyadh, the passport must have been renewed. I hope this answers your question. If in doubt, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is just a phone call away. Thank you.

Hi Ms Pink, tanong lang po sa sabi nio na "hindi po pwedeng mag-travel internationally kung ang passport ay mageexpire na within 6 months)", sa case ko po kasi, ung bakasyon ko will start Dec22-Jan 15 2013, tpos po ung passport ko mag eexpire na sa May 2013. According po sa HR namin, maaissuehan naman po ako ng exit/reentry visa with no problem. Tingin nio po mahohold ako neto sa immigration dito sa Saudi at mas maigi po ba na rebook ko na lng ung ticket ko? Salamat po.
Hello po! No need to have your tickets rebooked po. You can still use your passport in going out of Saudi Arabia. While in the Philippines for your vacation, have your passport renewed na lang po there so you won't have a problem in leaving.

Maaari pa rin po ninyong gamitin ang inyong passport sa paglabas ng Saudi Arabia basta hindi pa po s'ya expired. Kailangan n'yo naman pong i-renew ang inyong passport sa Pilipinas bago naman kayo umalis ng Pilipinas. At kailangan din pong kumuha kayo ng appointment sa DFA para sa pagrerenew.
Lahat po ng kukuha ng bagong passport at magpaparenew ay kailangan ng appointment na makukuha n'yo sa website na ito: http://passport.com.ph/set-appointment
May tatlong satellite branches ang DFA sa Manila (Megamall, Robinson's Galleria at SM Manila). Hindi na po sa DFA mismo pupunta. Agahan po ang pagkuha ng inyong appointment para sa araw na nais.

Hello Sir Rjonn, as long as yung details po nung mga magre-renew ang nakalagay sa passport appointment okay na po yun. Sa email po nila, may kasama po yung link sa PDF na kailangang i-download at i-print ninyo. Kasama po doon ang DFA Application Form at kung nilagay n'yo po ang details ng mga kasamahan n'yo, yun po ang lalabas na mga detalye sa application form. Paki-check na lang po ng mabuti.

Hi borgehasit... Since yours will expire on November 2013, may pagkakataon pa po kayong mag-renew dito sa Saudi Arabia. Renew your passport as early as you can. Pwede naman po yun. Have it renewed this February para makuha n'yo po one month after. Hindi po kayo magagahol sa oras. It's easier to have your passport renewed here in Saudi Arabia than in Manila. hello ladies...I wasn't able to take my vacation to the Phils.for a year and the expiration of my passport already slipped my mind.I am about to go on Jan.25 so I paid my for my visa only to receive a call from Government Relations that my passport is about to expire on feb.20 and that they will not give me a visa unless I apply for an extension. They told me that the basis for granting an extension is death or sickness of a dependent or will be for exit. Are there any other valid reasons accepted aside from those stated? Please help me I already have a confirmed booking on Jan. 25, I long to be with my family.
hello po, nalabhan po kase ng aswa ko ung passport nya nung dec 22 lang po sya pumunta sa gassim saudi arabia. Wala naman daw pong nangyari sa passport kundi nabasa lang kelnagn po ba magrequest na sya for replacement ng passport? tnx po

My passport will expire on May 4, 2013. So, I have set an appointment with the embassy by January 26, 2013.
But unfortunately, there is an emergency (I have to appear at a court hearing by january 28 - the court issued me a letter which i received through e-mail). Can I apply for an extension of my passport?
You know I tried to call the consular section 482-3816 for a couple of days already, but it is always "BUSY". I also tried to get in touch with them through e-mail..They replied once but they did not elaborate on what they can do for me..Is it ok if i visit the embassy without an appointment? so i would know if they will entertain me... i just need to know so my visit won't go to waste..
@24hoursconfused: It's true that you need an extension already since the expiration date of your passport is already too near on the date of your travel. But your reason might not be valid under the cases for giving an extension. However, please contact the embassy for your problem. They will entertain you especially if you mention how important it is for you to get a concrete answer on your passport problem. Unfortunately, The Pink Tarha doesn't work for the embassy. Neither are we directly related to anyone there so we can't help you further. (We wish we can though!)
@Anonymous 11:09am: It will be better if she gets a replacement as early as now, especially if the ink got smudged or the papers inside got wet. The Philippine passport is electronic and it might have been damaged. And those damages can't be seen immediately unless it gets scanned in the airports. So, please advise her to get a replacement immediately instead of facing problems in using that wet passport when going in and out of a country.
@Anonymous 11:20am: Hello! Yes, it might be better to go to the Philippine embassy already and ask for an extension. Show them the court letter as it might be your valid reason in getting an extension. If they refuse to entertain you in the embassy (which I doubt they'll do since you're already there), tell them that you tried getting in touch with them via phone and email but they didn't answer (or they didn't answer you adequately). :)
magkano po ang replacement ng damage passport?
Hello. I know this is a very random thing. Is it or is it not allowed for the old and new passports be stapled together? I have an old passport from Manila and a new passport issued here in Jeddah; once the guy from the releasing office gave me my new passport, he warned me not to staple those because of something "electronic" within the hard cover. I'm not sure if he was mocking me or what but I just followed his advice. Instead, I used a rubber band to keep the two together. So, are there really electronic stuffs inside the hard covers of the new passports? 'Hope to get a response from any of you.

@Sa Akin Lang: Hmn, we're not sure about the hard cover but we know that the "electronic thing" in a machine readable passport is in the identity page of a passport, the one below which has a series of > and numbers. It's not embedded on the cover. However, using the rubber band is a good way to keep your passports together. :P
@Anonymous: You may be charged with the same rate as for a lost passport. That's SAR600 as indicated in the Consular Slip when renewing passports.
@Sa Akin Lang Po & @The Pink Tarha: Modern passports have covers that are equipped with basic access control security mechanism that serves as shield to prevent access to your personal data contained in your passport by identity thieves lurking around the airports or elsewhere. In some instances when covers are stapled, that security feature may be disabled. And identity thieves may be able to steal the printed personal data of yours in your passport just by using his smartphone or other similar electronic reader gadgets.

Ang suggestion po ng embassy ay "9 months before the expiration of your passport" para po maiwasan ang pagkaabala o pagka-antala ng renewal. Pero ok lang naman po na mag-renew din kayo on the EOW sa August kung hindi nyo po kailangan ang valid passport sa ngayon. Siguraduhin lamang po na wala kayong activities/events/services na nangangailangan ng valid passport sa mga susunod na buwan. Ang passport ay nagsisilbing valid ID din po kasi para sa mga ibang bagay, hindi lamang sa paglabas at pagpasok sa mga bansa. :)

Wala ba talagang magiging problema magbakasyon sa pilipinas kahit 5 months nalang mag e-expire na ang passport ko? Depende rin ba yon sa airline?
wala na kasi akong makuha na appointment sa embassy on wheels, kaya di ako nakapag renew. Meron na akong appointment sa DFA sa Pilipinas para doon nalang ako magpa renew and extension. pwede rin ba mag walk-in nalang sa EOW para makapag extension and renew na rin bago ako umalis?

Hello Anonymous 11:38PM. My mother went on vacation last November 26 and her passport is expiring on March. She did not encounter any problems. She also just renewed her passport in the Philippines. You can try visiting the EOW though just to be sure. :)

@Anonymous 11:58PM: Of course it's still okay to renew your passport 10 days after its expiration date (or even months or years after! ;) I believe there's no extra fee or penalties in this case.

Hello Bust, you can still go for vacation gamit po ang passport ninyo kung sa April po ang uwi ninyo. Hindi na po kailangan ng extension. Sa Pilipinas n'yo na lang po i-renew.
Gaya nga po ng naging example ko sa mga comments sa taas, nakapagbakasyon po ang mother ko nung November 2012 at ang passport nya ay mageexpire ng March 2013. Sa Pilipinas na lang po sya nag-renew ng passport nya.

Change of Status (For Married Women, who wants to use the surname of their husband)
- Personal Appearance
- Original Passport
- Photocopy of Inside and Back Cover of Passport
- Married Certificate in Security Paper issued by the NSO (National Statistic Office) or CTC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly Authenticated by the NSO

@Anonymous 7:49PM: Ganyan po ang nangyari sa mom ko. Although dependent visa po sya ng dad ko pero mukhang parehong process lang naman po. Nagpa-renew po sya ng passport nya sa Pilipinas. @Anonymous 7:52PM: Dapat po ay makatanggap kayo ng email na mula sa embassy tungkol sa inyong appointment. Tumawag din po kayo sa Embassy phone number para makasiguradong may appointment nga po kayo.
Okay din naman po na magbakasyon kayo this August at sa Pinas na magpa-renew ng passport. Makakakuha pa po kayo ng exit/re-entry visa dahil March 2014 pa naman po ang expiration ng inyong passport. Pero kung matuloy po ang inyong April 9 appointment sa Embassy, ipa-renew na rin po ninyo ang inyong passport dito para hindi na kayo maabala sa Pinas. Tutal, medyo matagal pa naman po ang August at lalabas naman po ang inyong renewed passport bago ang inyong bakasyon.

May mga kumpanya po kasi na hindi na kayo bibigyan ng visa kung ganyan na kalapit ang expiration date ng passport n'yo sa vacation n'yo. Pwede rin po siguro kayong humingi sa embassy ng extension para sa passport n'yo kung gahol na po kayo sa oras para mag-renew.

@Anonymous 6:04PM: Did you apply for a new passport already via the Embassy on Wheels or through the embassy? If you lost your passport, it usually takes 1 1/2 months to process it because they need to verify that you indeed lost it. Kindly call the embassy for more information.
@Nicolas: Kapag po nawala ang inyong passport, ito po ang mga kailangang dokumento para makapag-apply ng bagong passport:
Requirements for replacement of lost passport:
- Personal appearance
- Police Report with English translation
- Affidavit of Lost of passport
- Duly accomplished passport application form (no photo needed)
(Note: There is a 15 working days waiting period before the approval of the passport application.)
*Police report should include the how/when/where you lost your passport. It should be as detailed as possible. Kindly contact the Philippine embassy on how to get a police report and affidavit of loss in Saudi Arabia.

Hi Anne, we don't think they accommodate walk-ins. The appointment system is put up in place to organize the schedule of those who are renewing their passports. If you have to renew your passport in immediate/emergency circumstances, you can call the Philippine embassy and inquire on how to facilitate the process.

We don't know the SAPTCO terminals. Is the last terminal the one in Olaya? Then that's probably okay since you can just hail a cab and ask to be taken to the Diplomatic Quarters. It would be quite near from Olaya Street (near Faisaliah Tower or Jarir Bookstore).

@Anonymous 4:10PM: Kailangan n'yo po sigurong tumawag sa Philippine embassy. Kailangan n'yo po talagang humingi ng extension or travel document (kung yun man po ang papel para dun) dahil hindi naman po kayo pwedeng mag-travel outside any country na expired na po ang inyong passport. Asikasuhin n'yo na po agad ang inyong passport/document kung gusto n'yo pong makapag-bakasyon sa date na nabanggit.

My passport is due for renewal this month of June i have already an appointment on the same expiry date :) my question is years back 2006 i receive the finalization of the correction of my birth certificate, but unfortunate that time on my last passport renewal they refuse to correct my name in Riyadh embassy they were asking for the birth corrected live birth which i don't have yet, only the court finality documents. i was able to get the copy my birth certificate with an indication on the sides as corrected. this June 16 i will renew my passport again doe's my corrected birth certificate enough for this renewal and correction? kindly advise
Hi Anonymous 8:54AM: Wow, your question kind of confused me for a moment there. Haha! Hmn, we're not sure about this because we haven't encountered anything like it. But gather all your documents regarding the correction of your name. Show all of them when you get your passport renewed this June and tell the passport officer of your dilemma. Di na applicable yung mag-aappointment 3 days before ka pumunta kasi sa dami ng nagpaparenew sa embassy hirap na magpaappointment. kailangan 3 months ahead ng schedule. Tapos idagdag nyo yung mga staff sa entrance gate na di marunong makaintindi ng situation. Pag sinabi mo na "passport renewal due to damage" nakarinig lang ng renewal hanap agad is "May Appointment ka" di muna patapusin yung sinasabi ng tao. Nangyari ito sa isa naming kasamahan na nagrenew ng passport nya kasi nasira ang passport. buti daw may isang babae na pinagtanungan nga uli at pwede pala walk-in pag damage passport at no need na for appointment. Better call first the embassy sa any transaction na balak nyo gawin para sure kayo na makakapasok kayo sa loob kasi napakahigpit nito.

To our kababayans, please renew your passports as early as possible. The advisable time now is to renew it 9 months before your passport expires. In that way, you can schedule your appointment 3 months ahead of the 6 months before expiry date time frame.
And yes, we highly advise Filipinos to call the embassy first before going there, esp. now that they are busy with the labor problems.

@Anonymous 10:10PM: Hello! Sa amin pong pagkakaalam, 30 days naman po ang renewal. Kung May 18 po kayo magpapa-renew, lalabas naman po ito ng June 18-20. Minsan naman po kasi, ang 30 days na sinasabi nila ay nangangahulugan ng 30 working days (hindi kasali ang weekends sa bilang). Kung kayo po ay nag-aalinlangan, maaari nman po ninyong itanong muna sa embassy officer sa araw ng inyong renewal. Mas mabibigyan po nila kayo ng specific na sagot.

Minabuti n'yo po sanang pina-renew muna ang passport bago nag-renew ng iqama dahil mababago din po ang passport number n'yo na ilalagay sa inyong impormasyon sa inyong iqama kaya pagdating ng inyong iqama, kung ito man ay ma-renew, kailangan n'yo po ulit itong i-update kung nakakuha na kayo ng bagong passport.

@Anonymous 6:05PM: I don't think that's possible. If it's an emergency, maybe you can ask for an extension. But you cannot have your passport renewed here and go home to the Philippines without a valid travel document.

hello miss pink tarha.. just want to ask some questions po regarding my passport renewal. my passport will expire on feb, 26 2014, and im going home to philippines for my vacation on 2nd week of december 2013. i tried to book an appointment for the renewal of my passport pero ang nakuha ko na pong pinaka-maaga is on october 31 @ around 4pm (thursday) first question ko po: open pa po ba ang embassy at this time? ang sabi niyo po kasi tuwing thursday is until 12noon lang sila? second: possible po ba na makuha ko ang passport ko within a month if magrerenew po ako on oct. 31, since my vacation is on 2nd week of december? third: papayagan po ba kaya ako na mag-extend na lang ng passport tapos sa pinas na lang po ako magrenew? last question po is: pupunta po kasi ang workmate ko sa phil. embassy sa sept 24 at plano ko po sumama sa kanya as walk in na po sana para mas maaga ang renewal ko. meron po kaya akong chance na ma-entertain sa embassy since i will go there as walk in po? thank you po miss pink tarha. :)
@tattoedheart: Ang Pink Tarha po ay hindi konektado sa Philippine Embassy kaya hindi po namin masasagot ang lahat ng inyong katanungan. Maari lamang po naming ibahagi ang sa aming pagkakaalam:
1. Ang Philippine Embassy po ay open ng Thursday dahil kung inyo pong matatandaan, work day na po ang Thursday ngayon. Saturday na po ang bagong weekend. Hindi lang po namin alam kung anong specific na oras na sila nagbubukas at nagsasara.
2. 30 working days naman po ang panahon para sa renewal kaya aabot naman po siguro ito ngunit kailangan n'yo din pong siguraduhin sa taong makakausap ninyo sa oras ng inyong renewal.
3. Sa amin pong pagkakaalam, ang extension ng passport ay pinagkakaloob lamang po sa mga mage-exit na at sa mga emergency cases. Hindi po namin alam kung kayo ay mabibigyan ng extension.
4. Pagdating sa walk-in, hindi po kami sigurado. Pero sa amin pong pagkakaalam, may schedule po minsan ang PHilippine Embassy sa kanilang satellite branch sa Umalhammam para sa mga walang passport renewal appointment. Dun po ay tumatanggap sila ng walk-in pero hindi po ito araw-araw nakabukas. Mangyari na lamang pong bumisita sa Philippine Embassy website para sa schedule.
Amin pa rin pong iminumungkahi na sa Philippine Embassy landline pa rin po kayo tumawag para sa mas konkretong sagot sa inyong mga katanungan. Maraming salamat po.
