Slices of This Desert City (2 of 2)

This is a long delayed post. I feel like...because of all the lakwatsa that Sundrenched and I have been doing (apart from other aspects of my 'social' life, *ahem*) that I'm been complacent with writing my entries for the blog. Sundrenched is right in saying that we've been spending a LOT of time together wandering the city every weekend. We just finished taking a month-long photography course and this June, our calendars are PACKED with activities! Anyway, let me help wrap up this series on our Tour of Riyadh. One of the highlights was the Hanging Bridge.

The 'Golden Gate' or 'San Juanico Bridge' of Riyadh (?)

They call it the "Hanging Bridge" for the apparent 'suspension' effect of the steel bars that appear to be holding the bridge up. It's not very long at all. You could probably yawn from start to end and the cross is over. Haha. I'm not too good in estimating distance by numbers.

Members of our tour group trying to get a closer look of the bridge.

Under the bridge.

The bridge is in the far south of Riyadh's city center and bridges the gap between a 'dam-like' area where confiscated vehicles from the city are stocked and piled up. You can see how many bad drivers are there in this city by the number of cars lined up at that joint! There are cars as far as the eye can see, I tell you!

This is the closest I could get to the edge of the cliff. Those teeny weeny "granule-looking" objects below are the confiscated cars.

With us posing by the bridge, we were sure to stop traffic! Haha! I remember that a lot of the cars were honking at us as they passed by and the entry way of the bridge got clogged up for a good 2-3 minutes with drivers intrigued by the group of people scattered around in a remote area in the desert taking photos. I waved back, confident that they are too far away to actually see my face anyway. Just for kicks. ;)

Til our next out and about trip...

Cheers!

Base!!!

Kelangan ko pa talagang isave ang last photo, at try to zoom para man lang sana makita ang mga naggagandang pink tarha wearing black abaya girls ng Riyadh, pero to no avail...nag-aral pa ng photography yan kaya alam nila ang tamang zoom para di talaga makuha ang mukha...kahit anong galing ko pa sa PS, hehe

Anyways, you girls have so big potential na makasama sa PEBA! I would like to encourage you to submit your entry, I am personally asking you to join.

When you get here in Al Khobar, kitakits na lang tayo if ever.

Marhaba...

Never been on that spot, nakikita ko lang yan naka-parallel sa daan papuntang redsand and hidden valley. Pwede palang malapitan yan, makabisita nga diyan one of these days.

Cheers!

That's one of my secret dreams: To cause a traffic (hindi dahil nakahandusay ako sa kalye o kaya'y nadisgrasya kundi dahil napa-wow sila pagkakita sa akin). Hehehe.

I sooo envy you dahil you get to attend a photography lesson. Dito yata wala. O baka meron pero hindi ko lang alam.

Looking forward to more of your adventures and pics.

@Mr. Thoughtskoto: Sorry, but the photos here are intentionally low-res so you wouldn't see the faces of the Pink Tarha Girls. Mysterious effect baga, hehe. May unveiling na lang na magaganap one of these days. Hehe. Actually, we want to meet and greet our fellow bloggers personally. And we want you to see us personally also para hindi virtual ang usapan.

Wow! Kayo pa po talaga ang nag-invite sa amin! We are honored. Thank you very much for encouraging us to join the PEBA. We are still brainstorming of an entry that will make us PEBA-worthy. :P

@ON Llarena: Go visit sir! Tapos pa-picture ka rin along the highway. Thanks for dropping by our site.

@Nebz: Wait 'til you see what kind of traffic we stopped next. Hehe. Joke.

There are probably photography lessons in your area. Ask around. Or if you happen to go here in Riyadh, we'll teach you the basics. As in sobrang basic lang ha kasi po hanggang dun pa lang po kami. Hehe.

Thanks for always visiting our blog.
