Thank God It's Food! (Our TGIF Experience)

Thank God It's Friday alright!

Have you noticed that a lot of our blogs last March was about FOOD? :D Well, that's what happens when we go on the Sale-Season-Withdrawal Syndrome! So to cap off the month, the PT Team (along with a special friend-and-fan all the way from Canada) dined our hearts out at Thank God It's Friday (TGIF aka Fridays) Branch near Euromarche in Umal-Hammam District.

I've only been to TGIF in the Philippines once (at Greenbelt) and I did remember enjoying a mini "production number" from the staff there who were adorned in traditional TGIF style. The servers here in Riyadh don similar outfits, they do singing too but not as "extravagant" as the performances I remember in Pinas. When we arrived that evening, one crew was in the middle of chanting a "Happy Birthday!" combo to one table.

The store's interior is pretty much an explosion of pop culture tidbits (as all Fridays are) from ancient gaming consoles and old vinyl records to science fiction memorabilia and funky beanie bags. As most of you know, restaurants in the Kingdom adapt the "cubicle-with-a-curtain" room design when it comes to their Family Dining sections (It's a cultural thing, I can explain later). Expect that the menu will be different from the regular Friday's menu in the US or Philippines. There's no pork, no alcoholic beverages and some divine desserts are also on AWOL (so I'm told).

We intentionally starved ourselves that afternoon so that we can enjoy the food and with the looks of our orders, it didn't appear that there were only five--let alone, LADIES--who were going to feast on the food!

An on-the-house greeting: Crispy Nachos with salsa and sour cream.

Delectable Drinks: Friday's Freeze side-by-side an Ultimate Strawberry Margarita
(gosh, how I wish there was vodka in this! *hehe*)

Appetizers: Cajun Chicken Fingers, served with fries and coleslaw

Hot Buffalo Wings (not so buffalo-ish for me) served with fresh, crispy celery and sour cream
(or was it blue cheese??!)

Chicken+Ceasar Salad with a buttered baguette.

Chicken and Shrimp Pasta: this one had a coconut-milk taste and was mildly spicy.

Fried White Fish over Fiesta rice served with grilled string beans.

Sizzling Shrimp on a bed of cheese-infused rice.

BBQ Baby Back Ribs served with onion rings and coleslaw. The meat was incredibly tender, literally sliding off the bone. *delish!*

For dessert: Oreo MADNESS! Chunky vanilla ice cream patties covered in Oreo cookie crumbles.

Aside from the manager-dude who was wearing an incredibly tight shirt along with a disturbingly tight pair of pants, the service was peachy (If anyone is interested to know more about this tight-wearing-clothes guy, let us know, he gave us his number!). The waiters weren't as invasive compared to the other joints we hit. They were courteous and accommodating without being over-friendly.

The Pink Tarha Team gives TGIF an overall rating of 3.75 over 5.0! :D

Cheers!

Kainan na naman!

I wonder how you ladies stay sexy and fit with all the calorie intakes you regularly have? Aside from daily exercise of course.

Napapalunok ako sa dami ng handaan niyo...hehehe.

Nakakainggit ang food trip nyo ha. Pero napansin ko lang, panay nasa US' top 5 least nutritious food chains ang pinupuntahan mo: Applebees and then TGIF. Hala ka...

Naalala nga kita when we ventured two restos this weekend: Soul Kitchen and Pizza Company. Sayang wala kaming camera. I'd recommend you visit Soul Kitchen. Sarap ang pagkain at tsaka hindi kasing alat ng Applebees.

At oo nga, agree ako dun sa sinabi mo: hindi mukhang limang babae ang kumain! Hehehe.

Did I mention I have not yet eaten when I saw this. I want to stab myself a bit for clicking knowing it would be food-related. Great shots. btw.

@nebz: They burn the calories by window shopping. Look it up, it's a sport amongst some ladies. ^^
